CV
Nicole St-Pierre draws her inspiration from everyday life―from the people, plants, animals and objects around her. While she has a penchant for female nudes, circus artists, musicians and vivid still lifes, allegorical animals are making their way onto a growing number of her canvasses. Her rich and colorful palette favors primary and secondary colors, punctuated by blacks and whites. Her various ways of texturing add visual interest and depth to her work.
A self-taught Quebecois artist, Nicole St- Pierre’s has been painting for over three decades. St-Pierre’s has exhibited her work in several Canadian galleries and public spaces including Montreal, Granby, Magog, Ottawa, Calgary, and Vancouver. ARTANA discovered St-Pierre’s Work while scouting for talent in Montreal in 2001 and was the first American gallery to debut her series tilted “The Pleasures of Life.” St-Pierre became a core artist at ARTANA after the gallery’s invitational All-Canadian group exhibition, from which The Boston Globe covered the show with an editorial and photo spread. St-Pierre’s success was the impetus for the gallery's relationship with the Canadian Consulate Office, Boston, and the French Cultural Center, Boston. St-Pierre is one of ARTANA's founding artists and to her we are grateful for our 16 year artist/ gallery relationship and the memories we share.
